Swollen eyelid with rash.. help!!?

ok, so my eyelid has been swellen for several days. it has gone down some but not completely. about a week and a half ago my kitty died and i cried alot. i rubbed my eye so much that i woke up with very irritated skin on my eyelid... that turned into what i thought was eczema on my eyelid b/c i get eczema on my hands and it looked like that. the rash got worse and my eyelid swelled up so much i couldn't even go to work. i've been avoiding the doctor b/c i just don't have the money right now (i am uninsured). i thought it would go away on its own. i've put ice on it, taken benadryl and nothing is helping. the eye itself isn't affected at all except i did have a little bit of white mucus come out of both eyes. the rash has turned into sores and is now healing but it hurts. what could cause this and what will help??? any help would be awesome! i can upload a pic if that would help
