Anyone good at burnin dvd's on a mac??

im trying to burn a folder onto a dvd disc, but all i can get is an "alias", or shortcut, rather than a copy of the file. I tried duplicatin the original and movin the copy to the dvd in Finder, but i still cant get it done...
